When a Form 4 student from a government school in Selangor joined TTC’s Puchong classes at the start of the year, her parents had one worry: Additional Mathematics. She had scored a C in her school exam and had started to avoid the subject altogether.

Starting with the basics

Her tutor began by going back to the Form 4 fundamentals in the first month, using the colour notes to rebuild the topics she had missed. Classes were one and a half hours a week, with short exam-style practice at the end of each lesson so progress was visible straight away.

Building confidence

By the mid-year exam her grade had moved to a B. More importantly, she had stopped skipping questions. “The notes made the formulas stick,” her mother told the branch. “She actually revises on her own now.”

Where she is today

She has since added Physics and Chemistry to her timetable and is on track for the High Achiever Ceremony next year. Her story is one of hundreds we see each year: a student who was told a subject “wasn’t for them” discovering that it was simply never explained properly.
